Rapper Remy Ma is scheduled to go on trial July 12 for allegedly assaulting her Love & Hip Hop: New York co–star, Brittney Taylor.
The “All The Way Up” rapper is accused of punching Taylor “in the face with a closed fist, causing bruising and swelling to [her] right eye.”
The incident allegedly took place on the evening of April 16, at an Irving Plaza cancer charity concert.
Remy Ma States She Was At Home With Her Baby
Remy Ma arrived at Manhattan criminal court on Friday morning, rocking a white blazer, matching stilettos and black pants. She then accessorized with an expensive Chanel purse according to TMZ.
At Smith’s last court appearance, her attorney said she could not have assaulted Taylor, as she was with her baby at the time of the altercation,
“That is a complete impossibility because at 9:30 p.m. … she was at home nursing her 4-month-old,” Dawn Florio, Smith’s lawyer stated.
But it was revealed on Friday that an updated criminal complaint put the alleged assault at 10:30 p.m.
Florio also claimed in court that “through social media, Ms. Taylor has on the record [said] that she suffers from mental illness, bipolar depression.” Florio has demanded prosecutors to find out whether Taylor is under “psychiatric treatment.”
She Rejected A Plea Deal
Prosecutor Juan Maldonado said in court that the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office offered the Grammy-nominated rapper a no-jail plea deal.
If she pleaded guilty to the top charge, assault in the third degree, and completely anger management – she would avoid prison.
But according to Maldonado, Ma rejected this deal, which is why the case is now going to trial.
Now the new mom faces two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree, and one count of harassment in the second degree.
Remy gave birth to her daughter, Reminisce Mackenzie, on December 14, 2018, with fellow rapper Papoose.
